About

Twenty years of building things that rank, chart, and convert.

Chicago agency owner. Marketing strategist. Growth systems builder. The mediums change — the discipline doesn't.

Biography

Half Chicago, half Bangkok. Fully obsessed with systems.

I'm Eric Barker — a Chicago-born, half-Thai creative strategist and entrepreneur who has spent two decades at the intersection of design, marketing, and technology. I've lived in Bangkok for the past ten years, building businesses that serve clients on both sides of the Pacific.

My career has had three distinct chapters: running one of Chicago's most visible design agencies, proving content strategy at national scale in Thailand's entertainment industry, and now building content and automation systems that let small teams produce like big ones.

The common thread is simple. I don't sell creativity as magic. I build repeatable systems — for rankings, for attention, for production — and I hold them accountable to results.

Career timeline

The path so far

  1. 2006 — Chicago

    Founded Blueprint Design Studio

Launched a design and digital marketing studio that grew into one of the most visible agencies in the city — and one of the most visible in the world for its category.

  2. 2006 — 2015

    A decade at #1

Blueprint held the #1 Google ranking for "Chicago web design" for roughly ten years and ranked Top 3 globally for "web design" — sustained SEO performance through every major algorithm shift of the era. The client roster ran from startups to Fortune 500 brands: Subway, Unilever, Tyson, Northwestern University, the City of Chicago, and Tribune Media.

  3. 2006 — 2012

    Early Google partnership

Partnered with Google during the formative years of paid search, helping onboard some of the earliest AdWords advertisers — plus an exclusive design partnership with Sysco Foods redesigning restaurant menus nationwide.

  4. 2015 — Bangkok

    Relocated to Thailand

Moved to Bangkok and shifted from web rankings to attention at national scale, working in Thailand's media and entertainment industry.

  5. 2015 — 2023

    The viral years

Drove four singles to #1 on Thai music charts — ahead of global releases from Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and DJ Khaled — generated hundreds of millions of views, and grew client and media pages past one million followers. This is where content strategy stopped being theory and became a repeatable machine.

  6. 2023 — Now

    Building growth systems

Founded Design Delulu — managed content growth systems for businesses — and co-founded AI Automation Asia, building automation that removes manual work and scales operations. Same discipline from the agency and viral years, applied to systems that compound.

Agency history

What a decade of running Blueprint taught me

Rankings are systems

Holding #1 for ten years isn't a trick — it's content strategy, technical discipline, and user experience compounding. The same mechanics I apply to clients today.

Big brands buy certainty

Subway, Unilever, and the City of Chicago didn't hire the flashiest pitch. They hired proven process. Enterprise trust is earned through delivery, not decks.

Lead by example

I never asked my team to do work I couldn't do myself. That philosophy — results prove everything — still runs every business I operate today.

AI journey

AI didn't replace my career. It compounded it.

When generative AI arrived, I'd already spent years automating content pipelines with Make, n8n, and custom APIs. I recognized it immediately for what it was: not a gimmick, but a production layer that lets a small team operate like a department.

Today I work across the full modern stack — Claude, GPT, Gemini, Midjourney, and video generation tools — wired into automated research, production, and publishing workflows. But the tools are the least interesting part.

The interesting part is judgment: knowing what's worth producing, what AI should never touch, and how to build systems your team will still be running a year from now.

What I believe about AI

  • 01AI is infrastructure, not strategy. Strategy is still a human job.
  • 02Generic AI output is worse than nothing. Specificity and taste are the moat.
  • 03The winners won't be the businesses with the most tools — they'll be the ones with the best-run systems.
